There is nothing like a hot Tumeric latte on a cool Autumn day. Wrapping and interlacing your fingers around the mug, lifting the mug to your lips, pursing your lips and gently blowing. The surface cools and you can finally take that first soothing warm sip.
We are in the midst of a superfood revolution and one of the most progressive ingredients you can find on a menu or in your kitchen is tumeric. Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, tumeric has been catapulted from the key spice in curry, to the must-have ingredient in our juices, smoothies and even our skin care.
One of my favorite recipes from Southern India is haldi doodh, known as Golden Milk. And while it can be made from scratch, when you’re on the go its much easier to make from powder form. I’ve tried many varieties from various brands that have tried to capture the essence of Golden Milk in a jar. But after stumbling upon the vibrant, eco-friendly packaging of GOLDE, I was sold. When you open the pouch you’re instantly hit with the pungent scent of warming spices. Anything you add to this powder is instantly made better. I made my Golden Milk with almond milk and was pleased with the balance of flavors.
GOLDE was founded by Trinity Mouzon Wofford, a wellness enthusiast who was originally inspired to experiment with tumeric because her mother was using the anti-inflammatory herb to treat her rheumatoid arthritis. She started adding it to juices and smoothies and noticed an improvement in her skin and a boost in her immune system. The GOLDE goal is to make wellness more inviting and approachable for consumers. Trinity and her partner Issey Kobori have launched 3 signature tonic blend flavors: Original GOLDE, Matcha GOLDE which is an energizing blend of turmeric, ginger, and ceremonial grade matcha green tea. Cacao GOLDE is made with raw, fermented cacao which helps boost serotonin levels.
Tea as an entry point for mindfulness. When tea is served hot, in an open ceramic cup, we have no choice but to move slowly and patiently. Tea stops us in our tracks and brings us into the present moment. We love that GOLDE really invites the celebration of ritual. “I make a golden tonic first thing every morning. I like to keep things super simple, so I’ll just do mine with hot water. Lately I’m really into our matcha blend — it’s the perfect way to add a clean boost of energy without any midday crash.” says Wofford about her favorite GOLDE rituals.
GOLDE is expanding their product offerings. Stay tuned for GOLDE’s new “beauty bombs,” which are coconut and hemp-based, high-fat balls you can have for breakfast, a snack, or even dessert. They’re made with GOLDE tonic blends and boast a natural boost for glowing skin. Trinity masterfully combined the nutrient dense beauty bombs with high quality fat to support optimal nutrient absorption.
“So often the wellness space can feel too exclusive or even dogmatic. At GOLDE, we believe that being well should feel good. That means keeping the experience inviting and approachable from end to end.” says Wofford. And we agree, creating products that help make wellness accessible is what innovation is all about and we are absolutely obsessed with GOLDE.
