Balancing Sustainability and Style: DYPER™ Unveils the World’s First Charcoal-Enhanced, Eco-Friendly Diaper

Bintou Diarra, A.B | Medical Anthropology, Brown University | September 1, 2023

On August 15th, environmentally-sustainable diaper company DYPER™ released the world’s first charcoal-enhanced, eco-friendly diaper. Coupling environmental kindness with great style, the diapers reflect one of DYPER™’s many efforts to simultaneously challenge the status quo and lean into innovation.

DYPER™ was created with the goal of solving three problems: the contribution of diapers to public waste, the use of harsh chemicals in products, and our rapidly-changing environment. They embarked on the journey with the release of their first diapers, made with viscose from bamboo that could be safely returned for disposal through their optional REDYPER service. Like this first product, the charcoal-enhanced, eco-friendly diaper underwent an array of tests to ensure that the diapers were not only safe for the environment, but safe for your baby. With 3% charcoal from Bamboo added to the plant-based outer layer, the result is a striking new color. The diapers are not only sleek and stylish, but they’re also sensitive-skin approved.

Leaning into innovation to usher in the new calls for an honoring of the old. “We’re thrilled to announce DYPER Charcoal Enhanced Diapers – the same Simply Kind diaper, sourcing and materials, but with style. It’s not just a diaper, it’s a fashion statement for trend-setters and eco-warriors alike,” said Sergio Radovcic, Founder and CEO of DYPER. In other words, DYPER is honoring what works, all while making changes to infuse a sense of style and sustainability.

And the company is friendly in more ways than one. Crafted in Japan, the plant-derived material of the inner layer of the diapers is texturized to lock moisture into the diaper’s core, away from your infant’s skin. Their packaging maximizes the use of renewable materials, with proprietary quick-open zippers that make them easy to unbox. The large attachment area on the front of the diaper allows for an effortless fit and easy re-adjustments. The environmental friendliness makes the brand and the new product most notable. The diapers can avoid the landfill and be responsibly disposed of through DYPER’s optional REDYPER service.
