Mama Glow Celebrates Black Breastfeeding Week with “Build Your Feeding Village: Digital Support Toolkit” Presented by Momcozy

Mama Glow is proud to uplift Black Breastfeeding Week with Feeding Our Futures: Breastfeeding in Black Communities, a virtual event presented by Momcozy. This powerful gathering uplifts the importance of culturally grounded support, advocacy, and education surrounding breastfeeding in Black communities.

Feeding Our Futures creates a dedicated space to address the historical, social, and systemic barriers that have shaped Black breastfeeding rates, while celebrating the resilience, expertise, and lived experiences within the community. By bringing together leading experts, parents, and advocates, the event fosters meaningful dialogue that centers Black voices and advances health equity for Black mothers, infants, and families.

This event is not only about nourishment—it is about reclaiming tradition, empowering families, and cultivating a healthier future for generations to come.

Download “Build Your Feeding Village: Digital Support Toolkit,” a co-branded resource thoughtfully co-developed by Momcozy and Mama Glow to equip families and care teams with compassionate, practical, and culturally centered feeding support. Created as part of Momcozy’s Nourish the Journey campaign, this digital guide is designed to meet new parents where they are—whether they’re breastfeeding, chestfeeding, pumping, incorporating donor milk, using formula, or combining feeding methods.

The toolkit offers holistic guidance for navigating the earliest stages of parenthood, helping families feel informed, empowered, and supported. It recognizes that feeding is not a one-size-fits-all experience and that community care—our “village”—is essential to positive outcomes.

Developed with the expertise of lactation professionals, doulas, nutrition specialists, and parent advocates, the toolkit includes:

  • Evidence-informed feeding guidance across all methods, helping parents understand their options and make choices that feel right for their families.
  • Tips for building a support network, including how to engage partners, doulas, care workers, and healthcare providers in a collaborative feeding plan.
  • Emotional wellness resources to support parents through the challenges, identity shifts, and vulnerable moments that often accompany early feeding.
  • Culturally grounded insights on the role of tradition, community connection, and shared wisdom in supporting Black families’ feeding journeys.
  • Practical tools and checklists for pumping schedules, preparing bottles, managing return-to-work transitions, and communicating feeding preferences in clinical settings.
  • Affirmations and guided reflections to encourage self-compassion, confidence, and resilience.

This digital guide is intended for parents, doulas, midwives, lactation counselors, birth workers, and healthcare providers, making it an essential resource for anyone supporting infant feeding. By strengthening the network of care around new families, the toolkit reinforces the message at the heart of Black Breastfeeding Week and tonight’s program: that every feeding journey deserves support, respect, and community.

During the webinar, Mama Glow and Momcozy aim to:

  • Celebrate and center Black families’ breastfeeding journeys during Breastfeeding Awareness Month.
  • Uplift diverse feeding methods—including breast/chestfeeding, donor milk, pumping, and formula integration—through inclusive storytelling.
  • Explore the cultural significance, structural barriers, and emotional dimensions of breastfeeding in Black communities.
  • Equip attendees with practical tools and emotional resources to support feeding journeys.
  • Inspire community engagement and systems-level change.
