Ecstasy is Our Birthright: Sacred Anatomy and Sexual Arousal

Latham Thomas | September 8, 2021

Passion is what connects us to life, and desire is our portal to divine union. Ecstasy is our birthright, and it’s the source of all living things. Sex is more than just our single desire as individuals for intimate connection or erotic experiences. It is the most profound expression of the power of creation. The mating drive is one of the most powerful forces in the world. Your sexuality is a mere piece of your primal power and pulsing life force that governs the Universe, and it connects you to that cosmic energy.

How you relate to and operate with that sexual power has an impact on your life. You can repress or restrict it, but it then shows up in other areas of your life. On the other hand, you can embrace it and you can celebrate it. You can learn to consciously open your inner portal to your sexual life force, gain access to divine bliss, and link to your wild glow power, thereby driving yourself farther along this transformative journey.

Sexual arousal is an altered state of consciousness, which means it is a mind-body mode that takes us outside of our ordinary state of awareness into an elevated, trancelike state. Dreaming, meditation, and even childbirth are other altered states induced by the brain and breath. You don’t need to have a partner present to explore the depths of your own pleasure. If pain has been a part of your past sexual experiences, know that when we engage in sensual self-care regularly we renew, restore and heal parts of ourselves that are tucked away. Pleasure heals.

Arousal trance is characterized by a deep awareness of bodily sensations, a feeling of warped time and space, and decreased pain Women have an interconnected network of structures that act together to choreograph arousal and orgasm. Learning to love and embrace your body is a revolutionary act. Glow time: my self-care practice, is an opportunity to practice loving ourselves, to improve our relationship with our bodies and honor our physical and emotional needs. We do this by awakening the power of ritual.

Keys to Opening and Softening for Intimacy

  • Expect fluctuation – like the moon phases, we change. When you come to understand that you are constantly changing and that what you feel will change, you will have an awakened understanding of your own internal flow and when to best tap into your most potent primal energy.

  • Begin with a connection – sex doesn’t just happen, we create space for it, focus summoning intimacy first.

  • Awaken the whole body – prime the senses, take a hot bath followed by a sensual massage, play music, low lighting. Movement is the key to connection. Get out of your head and drop into your body.

  • Lean into vulnerability – Move from the outside inward. Create a sense of safety and surrender with the mood elements (music, lighting, scent, touch, connection etc).

  • Follow the flow of energy – this is for your partner (if there is one) to take note of as well, you can lead the way with your body, so follow your unique arc of arousal. Let what feels good be what guides you.
