So, it’s hot outside and you’re sweating a lot. So are we! Sweating is a natural and necessary detoxification process- it flushes toxins out of our bodies and keeps us healthy- but sometimes leaves us stinky! You may have already switched from the harmful chemical laden deodorant but have not yet found one that’s the perfect match for the unwanted scent you’re hoping to keep at bey. An effective deodorant doesn’t have to contain harmful ingredients and there are tons of organic options on the market. If you want to purchase something to try out, we have a list of 5 No Non-Sense Deodorants that Calm the Funk Down.

Even the healthier deodorant options can be expensive and contain fillers. If you’re pregnant and or a new mom nursing your little one, you only want the best for your body and baby. There are mammary glands located under our arms as well as lymph nodes and that tissue is especially vulnerable. Plus those chemicals in the deodorant make their way into your milk supply.

If you’re feeling a little adventurous and ready to make your own at home concoction at home we have the perfect recipe that allows for healthy perspiration while halting the stink in its tracks. It calls for basic ingredients, many of which are already in your kitchen.

 Ingredients

1/4 Cup Baking Soda

1/4 Cup Arrowroot powder

10-20 drops of Essential oil

6-8 tbs of solid Coconut oil

Combine the baking soda and arrowroot powered and add your essential oil of choice. Add the coconut oil by the teaspoon and work it with a hand blender or paddle until the mixture is firm but pliant. It should be the same consistency as commercial deodorant, firm, yet easy to apply. If it is too moist add more arrowroot to thicken it. Scoop it into a container and place a lid over it, keeping it stored in a cool place. This mixture will yield about 1 cup of deodorant. When ready to apply to skin use fingers and place under arms.
