It Was All A Dream: How Beatrice Feliu-Espada Founded The Honey Pot

| March 10, 2019

The future of feminine care is all about reclaiming our bodies as sacred and using products that honor our intimate parts. There are so many female founded brands on the market that are meeting various needs along the reproductive heath continuum. And what’s great is that the ethos of newer brands really reflects the changing culture surrounding menses and gynecological health. Women are being vocal about their bodies and freely sharing what was once TMI. We are obsessed with The Honey Pot, a plant-based feminine care system founded by Beatrice Feliu-Espada. The Honey Pot is responding to this new generation of women who are ready, willing and empowered to give their lady bits a little TLC.

We sat down with Beatrice to learn a bit more about what makes The Honey Pot so… sweet.

You have this incredible backstory can you share a bit about your personal women’s health journey and how The Honey Pot was conceived?

My experience was filled with lots of frustration and anxiety and disappointment. Several years ago, I had a recurring bout with BV (bacteria vaginosis) for almost a year. I was on a vicious rollercoaster ride with doctor’s visits, antibiotics and the pain of getting another infection as soon as my cycle started. I felt completely out of control and helpless. I also felt like I was alone in my experience. It was a very tough time for me and I desperately needed a solution. One night, I had a dream with one of my ancestors. She came to me and gave me a recipe for a wash that would heal my BV and give me back my health and wellness. It was the moment that changed the course of my women’s health journey.

That’s amazing! When you created the first wash that worked for you, did a spark go off? What inspired you to bring The Honey Pot to the masses?

A spark definitely went off! First off, it actually worked to get rid of my BV issues – including odor and excess discharge. I was floored at how something so natural could reverse something that had been plaguing me for months. I knew that if this wash could get my honeypot on the right track – it could do the same for other women. I felt a responsibility to give other women the gift I had been given.

Postpartum care is such a critical period for every new mother. How does the Mommy-to-be system provide femme care solutions for mamas?

We have a special set of products for our Mamas. Pregnant women and those who have just given birth have honeypots that are more prone to infection, irritation, and inflammation due to constantly changing hormones. Our washes are made with the same healthy, natural ingredients minus lavender. Our wipes are also natural and healthy and a great way to maintain a fresh feeling throughout the day. Our post-partum pads are truly game-changing. They are herbal infused so they are ideal for women who have recently given birth and need a healing, healthy pad. You can make padsicles with our post-partum pads. Just spray the pad with witch hazel and place it into the freezer for a cooling, soothing pad that will help heal your honeypot after giving birth. All of our Mommy-to-Be products are made to help pregnant women and new mothers maintain their feminine health and wellness without worrying about introducing possibly harmful chemicals into their systems.

As a black woman in the wellness and consumer product space, what’s your desire for women who are on a path to trusting their bodies and practicing self-care?

My desire is for women to learn to love and care for their bodies without feeling guilty or ashamed. We need to care for our honeypots first and foremost as they are the epicenter of our feminine wellness, which in turn is the epicenter of our femininity. We need to understand how our bodies work and why they do what they do. We need to embrace the way we look and that our bodies go through changes daily, weekly, monthly and yearly and that’s 100% normal. We need to make time for ourselves and to find time to slow down and care for ourselves.

We couldn’t agree more!
