The Ham Yard hotel is the newest, and most chic of all the offerings from the Firmdale group, owned by Tim and Kit Kemp- the Ian Schrager duo of London. While we enjoy the Crosby Street Hotel in New York, The Ham Yard offers more comprehensive services on the property- including a child minding suite of services for those of you traveling to the UK with the little ones in tow.
The Firmdale group’s prime-location portfolio already includes boutique hotels in Charlotte Street, Haymarket and Covent Garden. Ham Yard is simply put- fabulous- a pleasure palace complete with roof garden, theatre, screening rooms, and even an original Fifties bowling alley imported from Texas- I mean…one must have an imported bowling alley.
Like all the group’s hotels, this latest has been interior designed by co-owner Kit Kemp. Every surface- texture and color is tantalizing to the senses. From the contemporary design, gilded pillars, mismatched upholstery, patterned textiles, Indian fabrics and quirky paintings- the eye candy is off the charts.
Whether staying in a room, suite, or apartment on the property- you instantly feel at home- or at least that you wish it were your home.
Every Firmdale hotel is quintessentially British, and no two of its bedrooms or suites are ever the same. An acid-bright Louis XV chair will be offset by native pictures or artfully arranged Indian carvings, a charcoal sofa plumped with graphic cushions, a floral padded bedhead juxtaposed with color-block linen drapes. Texture, color and print converge in spaces dotted with beautiful objets and original art- this is what Kit Kemp does so well.
Soholistic Spa offers a full range of body and beauty treatments, to be enjoyed in one of the beautifully appointed treatment rooms in the spa or in the comfort of your room- which we love since it means you can just drift off to sleep. The Spa offers two individual rooms and a double treatment room, along with a relaxation area, steam room and showers, fully equipped gym and changing rooms. They have a “Create your own Spa experience” offering ranging from 90 minutes with the Driftaway Massage to Champagne and Truffles Deluxe, The Crème de la Crème of Facials. The 60 minute offerings: Relaxing Full Body Massage or Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage. To the 30 minute express offerings: Aaahhh! Leg and Foot Energizer and The Power Breakfast Facial, Express Facial for All Skin Types. There is also a hypoxic gym, available for pre-bookings and private hire. Glow time is in full effect at Ham Yard.
Ham Yard has a range of facilities and amenities available for families and children including: Mini bathrobes & kids bathroom amenities. A famously celebrated- milk & cookies at bedtime. They keep cots, high chairs and children’s cutlery on hand. Of course they are armed with children’s games and books as well as DVDs and television portals for the little ones.
