SUMMARY:First Foods Justice: Breastfeeding Certification Program for Doulas
DESCRIPTION:FIRST FOODS JUSTICE BREASTFEEDING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR DOULAS\nNourishing Our Babies to Nurture Ourselves \nThe course is intended to support individuals of marginalized identities as they uplift and serve their communities in nurturing themselves as they nourish their babies. \nThe Mama Glow Foundation is a 501c3 non profit committed to advancing reproductive justice and birth equity through education\, advocacy\, the arts\, research and scholarship. \nWe are thrilled to announce the return of the Mama Glow Foundation FIRST FOODS JUSTICE: BREASTFEEDING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR DOULAS – Nourishing Our Babies to Nurture Ourselves \nThe design of this course centers the safety and support of Black and Brown mothers\, birthing people\, and families as they navigate the unique challenges and joys of breastfeeding/chestfeeding. \nThis 12-hour course examines breastfeeding through the lens of first food justice—the principle that all infants have the right to optimal nutrition\, and all caregivers the right to provide it. Centering this framework requires both honoring the joy and cultural significance of breastfeeding for Black mothers and mothers of color\, and confronting the structural inequities that shape their experiences. Although human milk is the gold standard for infant nutrition\, Black birthing people and families face persistent\, systemic barriers to breastfeeding—barriers rooted in and perpetuated by the enduring legacy of chattel slavery in the United States. \nCompared to their white counterparts\, Black mothers and birthing people are less likely to initiate breastfeeding and\, when they do\, are less likely to sustain it for durations sufficient to confer optimal infant health benefits. This course situates these disparities within a broader framework of restorative justice and collective healing\, while critically examining the targeted marketing practices of infant formula companies toward minoritized communities. \nDesigned to address persistent inequities in lactation support\, the course provides professional lactation education to birth workers from communities disproportionately impacted by adverse health outcomes\, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to serve within their own community contexts. Grounded in a sustained commitment to community-based care and workforce development\, the program invests in the Mama Glow network of care workers and seeks to foster both professional validation and pathways toward healing. \nUpon successful completion of the course and examination\, students receive a certificate recognizing their status as First Foods Justice Advocates on the pathway to certification. Fulfillment of all course requirements\, including designated community hours\, culminates in the award of the Certified Community Lactation Educator credential. \nThis course meets the Mama Glow Doula Certification requirment. \nThis course is a pathway to professional development opportunities with Mama Glow. \nCOURSE PREREQUISITES:\n\nApplicant must be a trained doula\nApplicant must currently serve marginalized communities\nApplicant must be able to attend all course sessions online\n\nSUMMER 2026 COURSE DATES:\nThe course meets twice a week for 3 weeks for a total of 6 zoom sessions. Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm ET \n\nWeek 1 – June 9th\, 11th\nWeek 2 – June 16th\, 18th\nWeek 3 – June 23rd\, 25th\n\nINVESTMENT: $425.00 + Processing Fees \nThe FIRST FOODS JUSTICE: BREASTFEEDING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR DOULAS is an educational and professional development initiative of the Mama Glow Foundation. Enrollment requires a $425.00 fee prior to onboarding\, which covers tuition\, administrative support\, access to the student dashboard\, mentorship\, and certification processing. This course is made affordable through subsidy from the Mama Glow Foundation. \nProgram costs are subsidized by the Mama Glow Foundation to promote accessibility; no additional scholarships are available. \nNo refunds will be issued.

SUMMARY:The Body\, Memory & Motherhood: Centering Pregnancy & Infant Loss
DESCRIPTION:The Body\, Memory & Motherhood: A Fireside Conversation with artist Molly Gochman\nModerated by Tara Clark\, Founder of Modern Mom Probs\n\nJoin Mama Glow Foundation for an intimate evening with multidisciplinary artist Molly Gochman\, moderated by Tara Clark\, founder of Modern Mom Probs\, exploring motherhood\, memory\, lineage\, reproductive experience\, and the stories we carry in our bodies.\n\n\n \n\n\nThe conversation follows Mama Glow Foundation and Molly Gochman Studio’s Navel Casting Ceremony\, a participatory artwork that considers the navel as a site of remembrance and connection. Molly’s ongoing Navel Casting practice begins with one of the body’s smallest marks – the place where one body once connected to another – and opens into larger questions around motherhood\, ancestry\, pregnancy and infant loss\, healing\, and the ways reproductive experiences shape us. Through a candid conversation with Tara\, Molly will share more about the origins of the work\, why she was drawn to the navel\, and how ritual\, art\, and collective participation can create space for experiences that are often deeply personal but widely shared.\n\n\n \n\n\nTogether\, they’ll explore questions around connection and separation\, motherhood and identity\, grief and transformation\, lineage\, memory\, and what it means to make private experiences visible through art. The evening will include a moderated conversation followed by audience Q&A\, with time before and after to gather\, connect\, and experience The Soft Space.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis gathering is open to anyone interested in art\, motherhood\, reproductive experience\, memory\, lineage\, grief\, healing\, and storytelling. You do not need to have participated in the Navel Casting Ceremony to attend.\n\n\nEvening Schedule\nThursday\, October 22nd\, 2026 | 5:30-8:00PM\n\n5:30 PM | Doors Open & Gathering\n\n\n6:00 PM | Moderated Conversation with Molly Gochman & Tara Clark\n\n\n6:45 PM | Audience Q&A\n\n\n7:00 PM | Community Gathering & Connection\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\nThe Soft Space by Mama Glow\, 208 N 8th Street\, Brooklyn\, NY 11211\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Molly Gochman\n\nMolly Gochman is a multidisciplinary artist whose work often engages with themes of care\, memory\, connection\, collective experience\, and the systems that shape our lives. Her Navel Casting ceremonies are part of an ongoing artistic practice and are traditionally intimate\, private experiences.\n\n\nAbout Tara Clark\n\nTara Clark is the founder of Modern Mom Probs\, a media platform and community exploring the realities of modern motherhood with humor\, candor\, and connection.
\nCOURSE PREREQUISITES:\n\nApplicant must be a trained doula\nApplicant must currently serve marginalized communities\nApplicant must be able to attend all course sessions online\n\nSUMMER 2027 COURSE DATES:\nThe course meets twice a week for 3 weeks for a total of 6 zoom sessions. Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm ET \n\n\nWeek 1 – June 8th\, 10th\n\n\nWeek 2 – June 15th\, 17th\n\n\nWeek 3 – June 22nd\, 24th\n\n\nINVESTMENT: $595.00 + Processing Fees \nThe FIRST FOODS JUSTICE: BREASTFEEDING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR DOULAS is an educational and professional development initiative of the Mama Glow Foundation. Enrollment requires a $595.00 fee prior to onboarding\, which covers tuition\, administrative support\, access to the student dashboard\, mentorship\, and certification processing.
