Screen Shot 2016-08-27 at 3.45.03 PMThe New Moon and few days leading up to the New Moon are perfect for aligning your focus with new beginnings, energetic projections and tuning into your intuition. This is a time renew and reset your intentions, examine what hasn’t worked and let go. Journey inward, write your goals, meditate, and make space, prepare to call in what it is you desire. Get clear on your purpose so that you may only attract what you truly desire. The New Moon is a moment to summon forth energy to lasso in what  seems out of reach, and laying the foundation for the vision is the first step to allowing it to become a reality.

New Moon rituals allow you to connect with your inner being, cultivate new goals, implement plans, while reflecting upon what no longer works in your life and releasing. In this New Moon ceremony you’ll create the space to recharge your energy and gain clarity, anchoring and alignment.

Here are 5 Rituals you can practice to for your New Moon Ceremony.

Sacred Space: Make sure you are in a space where you will not be disturbed. Turn off your cell phone. Diffuse some essential oils; lavander, geranium or sandalwood dispel negative energy. Play relaxing music. Get still and focus on your breath. As you inhale, ground yourself in the healing energy that surrounds you. When you exhale, any tension you are holding in the body. Once your space is cleansed, it’s time to set up your Altar.

Adorn Your Altar: An altar is a sacred space that is a foundation for spiritual rituals. The altar anchors your intention to invite more peace, serenity, and love into your life. It can be used for prayer, meditation, cleansing, or just a place of sheer beauty and a connection to the Divine. Your altar can change with the moon phases- I suggest changing based upon New Moon and Full moon only, so it’s manageable. The intention of your altar during the new moon would be focused on new beginnings. Your altar is the perfect place to house your sacred objects – crystals, photos, mala beads, etc. Using herbs + essential oils with healing therapeutic properties adds to your ritual. Candles and incense provide a transcendental sacred space.

Cleanse your Space: Smudge your space to clear any stagnant or any negative energy and make room for positive and cool vibes. Perhaps use an affirmation while smudging your space with sage or palo santo. “I now clear this space so that my intentions can flow clearly from my heart.”

Use Affirmations: Choose an affirmation or mantra and guide yourself through a cleansing meditation. “I welcome transformation, growth, peace and abundance.”

Shine Light: Lighting a special candle during the New Moon can help you start anew with a fresh outlook. The flame symbolizes your inner light- your own internal fire. As you gaze at the flame it will help you find stillness and connect to your intention. When you light your candle, write down what you want to attract. Keep your intentions in your sphere of awareness. Put them in a visible place, like in a box on your altar or write them on the bathroom mirror. Make notes in your journal about your progress.

Set Your Intentions: Write down what you want to bring into fruition. Hopes, dreams, desires. Attach dates where it feels comfortable and speak in affirmative statements “I AM”.  Once you’ve finished, read the list aloud during your New Moon meditation.  Give thanks for the unfolding and development of your desires. Place the paper someplace safe to reflect on it. At the Full Moon, find ways to take action on those intentions, and celebrate any signs of growth.
