What is the Future of Birth? Dr. Michel Odent Speaks in Berlin

“Our global priority should be to rediscover the primary needs of laboring women.” – Dr. Michel Odent. Finally, We are pleased to share that our friend and fellow birth keeper Camalo Gaskin of Birth to Birth is hosting Dr. Michel Odent in Berlin for Birth to Birth Talks. July 11th they will host two public conversations addressing the question: “What is the future of childbirth?” These two talks will be for mothers, fathers, midwives, doctors, doulas, ob/gyns, and all others interested in childbirth in relation to evolutionary thought and understanding. In other words, anyone interested in the future of humanity and the ways babies are born.

Dr. Michel Odent will speak on the long term implication of current childbirth practices. Since the 1950s he’s been influencing the field of obstetrics with research and insights that are improving practices in the field. His most recent book Childbirth and the Evolution of Homo Sapiens looks at these practices in the frame of sustaining population growth. In his early professional years, he was one of the first surgeons to introduce the modern c-section technique. Since this he has introduced many new techniques and discussions to the field of primal health, including clinical birthing pools, identified the connection between oxytocin and mother-child bonding, and much more. On this evening he will discuss “Childbirth in the Scientific Context of 2015″. It would be an honor to have you join. English-German interpreter will be present.
