Papa Glow: Happy Father’s Day
Today we honor the men who have made us who we are. Whether you have a father present in your life, an uncle, grandfather, a mentor and friend. We all need the support of strong male figures in our lives to help us grow. It seems silly that we take one day out of the year to acknowledge the greatness and value that these men bring to the world and into our lives. Men aren’t always as expressive as women so it may be hard for you to find the perfect gift to express your love and appreciation. Here are a few quick ideas for inspiration.
3 Ways to Honor Your father (or a special father figure in your life) on Father’s Day
Pamper & MAN-icure him– Papa may work hard during the week and on this Father’s Day even though he may not admit it, most dads would love to be treated to a relaxing massage. Find a local spa or even a mobile massage service that will offer the service in the comfort of your own home. If you decide to give the massage yourself, make sure you know how to give a good one, invest in some quality essential oil blends and candles to set the mood so he is calm. Also older kids can give papa a manicure at home because daddy doesn’t need the polish change.
Feed Him- They say “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. Cook Dad an elaborate brunch or dinner this year with all his favorite dishes. There’s nothing like waking up to the scent of your favorite home-cooked meal. Make sure you do the grocery shopping in advance so you have plenty of time to do the cooking. Enlist younger children to do age appropriate cooking tasks so they feel included in the process.
Make a Nostalgic Gift- Tired of giving papa a necktie and new socks. Why not try something new? Every father has a history and legacy. Make a shadow box filled with personal items and pictures of your dad, his father, and his two grandfathers if you can find them. Items like pocket watches, letters, and old photos give it some nostalgia.
