Mama Glow Obsession: Pikolinos Maasai Project!

I was recently invited to a dinner organized by friend and style maven- Tai Beauchamp at the Pikolinos pop-up store. Pikolinos is a line of shoes and bags designed in Kenya by over 1600 women from the Maasai tribe, one of the most threatened tribal communities on the planet according to the UN.

For the first time, the Maasai women are earning a salary that allows them to improve the quality of life of the entire community while holding on to their traditions and lifestyle. It is a stable source of income that gives them access to food and medicine, as well as to education for the youngest members of their tribe.

With this fourth collection of Maasai-design sandals, Pikolinos takes its vision of corporate social responsibility further, demonstrating its interest in working with those most in need and in being pioneers in the pursuit of fair trade development.

Check out these gorgeous sandals, hand beaded by the Masaai women. I got the pair shown above and they feel like you’re walking on air- so comfortable and chic at the same time. A great shoe for expectant and new mamas who want the style without the discomfort of narrow heels. Visit the Pikolinos pop-up store 32 Gansevoort street NYC. 100% of the proceeds of the shoes and bags go go toward development projects in the Maasai Mara National Reserve!! For more info on the Pikolinos Maasai Project please visit
