Hydrate Your Skin: Anointed Body Butter
During the harsh cold months the skin suffers from the temperature changes, weather, and lack of adequate hydration. This anointed body butter is for the entire body to relish in pure delight. Massaging the cream into your skin after a warm shower allows the oils to penetrate and maximizes your glow! Anoint yourself with this cream to soften feet and heels that are forgotten in the winter.
1 cup shea butter
1⁄2 cup coconut oil
1⁄4 cup sesame seed oil (raw, not toasted)
1⁄4 cup evening primrose oil
1⁄4 cup jojoba oil
10 drops of essential oil or natural fragrance oil
Put the shea butter and coconut oil into a double boiler. (Make your own double boiler by setting a glass measuring container on top of a canning ring in a saucepan, surrounded by boiling water.) Warm the butter and oil until soft but not melted. Remove from the heat and add the other three oils. Add the fragrance oil and then whip it up. I like to use my immersion blender for this task. Keep whipping until it is the consistency you want. Put into jars and cap. Voilà!
Sesame seed oil helps with inflammation and itching. Evening primrose oil helps in skin hydration. Apply the Anointing Body Butter to skin daily after shower to moisturize and protect your skin. This is especially helpful if you are living in a cold and arid climate.
