It’s the new year, and for many it’s time to change to a more fulfilling career. A career should be rooted in your purpose. It’s not about having a great JOB, but a great JOY. What makes you want to get up and do back flips in the morning? My journey to honing in on my unique passion and life’s work began with pregnancy. Nearly 12 years ago when I was pregnant with my son Fulano there weren’t lots of holistic resources out there for expectant and new moms in NYC. I did a lot of research, compiling and vetting of practitioners, products, and services to help guide women through a healthy pregnancy. I had a very beautiful and blissful experience being pregnant with my son and I wanted other mothers to experience what I had- an empowering labor that would transform my life.

When my son was small I was a stay-at-home mom spending lots of time with him playing, dreaming, and crafting my next steps. I would see these catalogues for The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in health food stores and esoteric shops like Integral Yoga and East West Books, and I was intrigued but didn’t look into it. Finally one day I piked up the catalogue and called. I spoke to a lovely woman who set me up with an  information session at Lincoln Center where I learned more closely what the program was all about- I enrolled that evening and my journey to the glow began. I knew that I wanted to offer nutrition and yoga into my practice and birth doula service would soon follow after I graduated. I got lots of practice during classes to get counseling methodology under my belt and when graduation rolled around I hit the ground at full speed- taking on clients, contracting businesses, and serving celebrity clientele. I was certain that I wanted to establish a premium service- one that I wish was available to me when I was pregnant.

At first I was nervous about narrowing down to this category- maternal support- but what I quickly realized is that finding your niche is critical to establishing expertise in a particular area and dominating it. You can’t be all things to all people, so focus on serving your core audience. Plus, women will always be having babies, so my work is never done! Bridging the gap between optimal wellness, spiritual growth, and radical self-care, I’ve established myself as the go-to-guru and Mama Glow as the go-to brand for modern holistic lifestyle for women during pregnancy and beyond!

My work with Mama Glow has taken me on a wild and joyful adventure. I went from hosting little meetings in my living room to partnering with organizations and corporations like: Morgan Stanley, the Environmental Working Group, and Vogue Magazine; from reading interviews with esteemed influencers and role models in the wellness community to speaking at Arianna Huffington’s Thrive Conference in NYC alongside Dr. Dean Ornish, and Mark Bertolini. I work with supermodels, entertainers, athletes, fashion designers and more- all in the name of healthy living. When influential people claim healthy living and share it with the masses- it makes our jobs as health coaches easier and there is more demand for what we do. I am here to spread the glow- the good news that radiance is our birthright. I am committed to empowering women to stand in their glow- one belly at a time.

I do it all as a single mother with a growing 11 year old boy- who has his own thriving career as a celebrity DJ. I know people feel stinted by their circumstances but you are not what you are going through- you must rise above your fears and limiting beliefs, change the legacy and re-pattern the future for what you want. A big part of my message is for women (and men) to put themselves first- practice glowtime. Self care is really important when you are growing a business and many of my aha moments come when I am allowing myself that time for self renewal.

The DREAM is my guiding principal. It’s my compass. Dreams are in the making reality. The visioning you are doing now is actually helping the universe to organize your steps towards your goals. “Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning” -Gloria Steinem. Remember, most of all, it all starts with trusting yourself; listening to the whispers from within. A voice inside me was telling me to proceed along this path to give rise to Mama Glow. That same voice told me to enroll into the program. It’s never easy to take a leap of faith- but you must trust that your purpose is far greater than a little discomfort and what you think lies ahead. It’s all worth it in the end.
